Garage Project - S.London, Nov 2020

This clients new home in South London didn't have much of a traditional loft to speak of but they did have a garage with a good amount of height going to waste.

The clients idea was to create a new floor with ladder access to allow them to use this large area for storage, so thats exactly what we did!

 

We started simply by adding floor joists anchored from the block-work walls right to left, this created our loft floor and garage ceiling. 

As we had blocked most of the natural light with the new floor we added new LED lighting to the new loft area and the garage below.

Next up was to insulate everything, a foil backed foam was the perfect solution given its rigid properties, this was applied to the new ceiling and roofline.

Finally was the installation of the superb Stira wooden loft ladder with balustrade providing the client safe, easy and quick access to the loft.

A bit different from our normal jobs but a great one for us to get our teeth into, a really enjoyable project.
